D100
Our D100, Old Faithful, has a traditional ornamental shaped handrail and square vertical balusters. Whether it’s interior or exterior, it can be used on balconies, straight stairs, or to complement a spiral stair. Our railings can truly be made to fit any project. And since they’re made specifically for your project, installation is as simple as bolting rail sections together and fastening them to the floor or deck.
D105
The D105, Wildwood, has numerous options available for wood handrail profiles and also includes square vertical balusters. Typically for Interior use, the wood comes sanded allowing you the freedom to apply your own finish and match other wood in your home.
D124
The D124, New Faithful, has Square vertical balusters much like the Old Faithful, however it incorporates a more modern touch with its 1-1/2” Round handrail. As most of our products, the D124 is available in steel (for interior use) or aluminum (for exterior use).
D154
The D154, Greenwich Jazz, with its all round components, gives a more contemporary look to a room. Clean lines and smooth transitions set the craftsmanship of these railings apart from many others.
D156
The D156, Cable Railings, have an open feel and a modern look. Both steel and aluminum versions come with 1/8” Stainless Steel cables. Stainless Endcaps are standard, but are also available in a handful of colors.
D224
The D224, Monterey Bay, has smooth round vertical balusters then blend well with the 1-1/2” round handrail. It’s beautifully simplistic, and custom fit to your space without the need for any modifications.
D500
Our D500, The Expression, railings are made the way railings should be—flexible enough to change as you do. Choose from a variety of looks to fit your style- but also know that you can easily change the look later by just changing the laser panels! D500 railings have a smooth 2″ wide flat handrail, square posts, and laser panels to achieve any number of looks.
Why Choose Custom Deck Railings and Handrails from Custom Iron
When it comes to outdoor living spaces, your deck is the heart of where family and friends gather. That’s why choosing the right custom deck railings and custom deck handrails matters—both for safety and aesthetics. At Custom Iron, every outdoor railing is built with the same rigorous craftsmanship we bring to our interior pieces, with added weather-resistance, customization, and precision.
Made in the USA, Built for Your Deck
Every railing we fabricate is carefully engineered for its environment, whether that’s a covered patio, an elevated seaside deck, a multi-level outdoor stairway, or a backyard terrace. We know that deck railings face unique demands: exposure to sun, rain, wind, freeze/thaw, and sometimes heavy foot traffic. That’s why we offer:
- Steel or aluminum frameworks with durable powder-coat finishes that resist corrosion and fading
- Stainless steel cables, hardware, and fasteners for long-life performance
- Designed for quick installation and future flexibility
Because we manufacture here in the USA, we can deliver the level of quality, control, and customization that many mass-market railing systems simply cannot match.
Designed for Your Style, Site, and Safety Requirements
A deck has different challenges from an interior staircase. Your railing needs to align with the view, the structure, and the local building code. That’s why our service includes:
- Free consultation to discuss site conditions, sightlines, and function.
- CAD-drawn layouts and engineering to ensure structural integrity and code compliance.
- Custom handrail profiles that merge form and function, whether you prefer a traditional look or ultra-modern minimalism.
- Options for custom deck handrails, such as wood-top profiles, hidden fasteners, lighting integration, and curve or radius fits.
- Pre-measured, pre-drilled sections to minimize onsite fabrication and disruption.
By focusing on the deck environment, we help you achieve a railing solution that elevates your outdoor space and lasts for decades.
Applications and Use Cases
Here are just a few examples of how our custom deck railings and custom deck handrails bring value:
Elevated Residential Decks
For homes built on slopes or with second-floor outdoor living, safety and aesthetics go hand in hand. Our railings provide dependable protection while enhancing the view with clean lines and well-conceived design. Whether you choose vertical square balusters, stainless cable infill, or laser-cut panels, we deliver with ease of installation and purpose-built fit.
Pool or Waterfront Terraces
Decks by a pool or near the water demand special attention: corrosion resistance, seamless drainage, non-slip surfaces, and unimpeded sightlines. At Custom Iron, our aluminum rail packages with stainless cable or tempered glass infill are ideal for these locations—delivering elegance without sacrificing durability or safety.
Curved or custom-shaped decks and stairs
Not all decks are straight. Many wrap around trees, span different levels, or integrate with exterior stair systems. Our custom fabrication, including curved rails, radius handrails, and integrated lighting, ensures your deck flow is maintained and your railing simply becomes part of the architecture instead of an afterthought.
Renovations and retrofits
Updating an older deck? We make it simple. Many of our clients remove outdated wood railings and replace them with our steel or aluminum systems without modifying the underlying structure. With pre-engineered sections and adaptable newels, the job can often be completed quickly and cost-effectively.
Why Custom vs. Off-the-Shelf
Off-the-shelf deck rail kits may look appealing, but they often fall short when it comes to fit, finish, longevity, and flexibility. Here’s how Custom Iron stands apart:
- Tailored fit: Our rail sections are made to your plan, so there’s no awkward cut-outs, field modifications, or compromises in design.
- Superior materials and finishes: We use structural steel or aluminum, stainless hardware, and premium powder-coats designed for outdoor use—not indoor kits dressed for exterior.
- Design freedom: Want a wood handrail atop a metal frame? Rounded rails for curves? Cable or glass infill instead of spindles? We make it happen.
- Future-proofing: Many of our products (like the D500 family) allow you to swap panels or change inserts later—giving you design flexibility as tastes evolve.
- Longevity and value: A well-built custom railing will last decades, reducing maintenance and replacement costs while adding real visual appeal and home value.
Spiral Staircase Handrail
Elegant Safety, Lasting Craftsmanship
At Custom Iron, we understand that a spiral staircase handrail is more than just a safety feature—it’s a defining element of the staircase itself. A well-designed handrail enhances both form and function, blending seamlessly with the curves of your staircase while providing reliable support and durability. With decades of experience in the spiral staircase industry, our team crafts handrails that balance beauty, strength, and ease of use. Whether for interior or exterior use, residential homes or commercial spaces, our custom and standard spiral staircase handrail solutions are designed to elevate your project.
Why the Right Spiral Staircase Handrail Matters
A spiral staircase is a striking architectural feature, but without the right handrail, it is incomplete. The spiral staircase handrail ensures safety as users ascend and descend, making it an essential part of every staircase we produce. Beyond safety, the handrails are an important part in defining the overall aesthetic, whether you prefer a sleek modern look, classic wrought iron, or a custom finish that matches your design vision. At Custom Iron, every handrail is designed with precision to ensure it aligns perfectly with your staircase’s curves and complements the surrounding space.

For over 40 years, Custom Iron has remained a leader in spiral staircases and handrail design. Material and Finish Options for Every Style
Your spiral staircase handrail should reflect your space and your style. That’s why we offer a wide range of material and finish options to choose from. From powder-coated finishes that provide durability and weather resistance, to traditional wrought iron designs that exude timeless beauty, Custom Iron helps you create a handrail that feels right for your project. For homeowners, builders, and contractors alike, our ability to blend functionality with customization ensures your handrail will meet both safety standards and aesthetic goals.
Custom Spiral Staircase Handrail Solutions
Each and every project is unique, as is every spiral staircase handrail we create. Some clients need a standard design at an affordable price point, while others require custom fabrication to achieve a specific architectural vision. Our design team works closely with you to understand your needs and recommend solutions that deliver both safety and style. Whether you’re designing for a residential loft, a commercial entryway, or an outdoor deck, our custom handrail options make it easy to achieve the perfect fit.

What to Expect When Working With Custom Iron
1. Initial Consultation and Measure
We start by understanding your project: the deck layout, height, local code (guardrail height, handrail requirements, spacing), design aesthetic, and installation timeline. We’ll ask about finish preferences, maintenance expectations, and any unique features (e.g., lighting, glass inserts, wrap-around corners).
2. Design and Fabrication
Based on your input, we provide design drawings, rail section schematics, and finish samples. Once approved, our in-house fabrication begins. Because we build in the USA, we maintain tight quality control and deliver components that are ready to install, saving time on-site and reducing cost.
3. Installation
Our materials are engineered for easy assembly: bolt-together rail sections, pre-welded posts, shims, and leveling plates included when needed. Whether you’re a contractor or a homeowner, installation is straightforward and typically takes far less time than traditional custom-welded railings.
4. Enjoy and Maintain
With the right finish and minimal maintenance, your deck will be ready for years of enjoyment. We provide care guidelines—typically simple: rinse with fresh water annually, inspect fasteners, touch up finish if needed—and you’re done. Our materials and finishes are chosen to withstand the weather without frequent upkeep.
